A federal judge is scheduled to hear the arguments of this week on a lawsuit that seeks to the part right-ticket voting in Rhode Island.

The lawsuit is filed by Bob Healey, an independent candidate running for the lieutenant Governor.

He argues that practice, which allows voters select candidates of a party with a unique mark on their round of elections, is unconstitutional and unfairly favours established political parties.

The suit seeks an order declaring the practice, also known as unconstitutional, master level and that it will be removed in option in the election this year.

U.S. District Judge William Smith is scheduled to hear arguments in this case on Wednesday morning.
