Mike Trainor, a spokesman for the Governor of Rhode Island-elected Lincoln Chafee, said that he believes that BMW Oracle knows that your needs are still evolving and the reluctance of the State to commit to the event before Friday should not harm their chances.

Said Chafee was landing at the Cup in your highest priority in the run-up to its inauguration on January 4 and had worked with the Christmas weekend to make it happen. But reiterated the position of Chafee who has fought with massive budget deficit in recent years, the State should not compromise anything to know the cost.

“Chafee elected Governor of not going to play with the $ taxpayers without knowledge of the risk and reward ratio”, said Trainor.

Also on Wednesday, the Chamber of Commerce of Newport published a report that calculates the positive economic impact of landing event in $ 1.1 billion. Said that more than 7,800 could create jobs – large numbers in a State that has suffered some of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. The unemployment rate was 11.6% in November.

Trainor said Chafee recognizes the benefits of hosting career.

“Capturing the Cup is an important platform from which the State can initiate an economic recovery,” he said.
